As L said: Damn you, Lidl! We can't afford to keep saving money like this!

We've got a minor fly problem, to do with the amount of fruit waste in and on the way to the compost bin. I say minor, there's a zillion tiny flies, mainly in the kitchen, very annoying. Quite apart from what happens when you take the lid of the compost bin.

So annoying had it become, that when we happened to pass the venus flytraps in the garden centre yesterday, we bought two.

They don't work. Not yet, at least.

Screwfix have one of those UV flykiller things, but it's an industrial unit for 80 quid.
I could only find a battery powered one for camping in the laminated book of dreamsArgos catalogue

Guess what's in the Lidl offers for this very day?

Dropped into our favourite shop to check out the gardening specials last night.
Since my hose buying extravaganza last weekend, I've been wondering where to get a tap-to-2-hose-connectors adapter. Not to be found anywhere I'd been able to think of.
Yep.
Lidl had one. As part of a set: tap adapter, spray nozzle, hose connector, hose connector with stop, and the tap-2hoses adapter. All for only 2.99!!!

Yesterday was Lidl's special offers on barbecues day.
We dropped into the Lidl we pass on our way home.
Sold out.

Dropped L&J at home and went on to our local Lidl.
2 left.
Phew.

This is the terrible thing about Lidl - occasionally the offers are good enough that you know you need to be there early. We once went for something and saw a woman carrying one on her way out as we were going in. We asked, and it was indeed the last one. But we got one from a different Lidl.

My life is just full of tension.

They'd sold out of bike pumps. Got some lights though. Thought at first they were dud, but the diagram on the box was wrong regarding battery alignment. And it was a label covering a diagram for a totally different battery type. The battery carrier had the right layout moulded into it. I guess C cells are more common than Ds in Germany, or something.
The car boot tidybag I got the week before last is top, I was wondering how I'd fix it in place, and when I put it down where I wanted it to go it velcro'd itself in place automagically.
There's some more toys Jack might like coming up soon. That giant crane was a fantastic buy.
They have a couple of decent beers, and a lager that's OK when I'm feeling strange (eg Eurovision evening). I'm almost tempted to try their bourbon.

Pulled into Lidl's carpark - the one on the way home, not our local one - and saw a woman about to put the 'easel with blackboard on one side and magnetic whiteboard on the other' into her car boot.
"I bet she's got the last one" said L. "Ask her", I said. So she did. And she had.
So I dropped L&J at home, stopping just long enough to change his nappy, and I shot off to our local Lidl. They had 3 left. Result!

And I also nipped up the road to the good offie that has the entire Sam Smith's range and Monkey Wrench and the Copper Dragon range and Manns...

Lidl had a deal on a wooden train set, including an electric loco. So we got it.

The tracks fixings are compatible, but they're subtly different gauges - the new stuff is about 3mm wider, and the rolling stock matches so is a tight fit on the old track and the loco tends to come off on points and transitions.

I foresee a long evening with the minidrill and a cutting tool.
