Phew!

We're having the bathroom done.
Got the plumber booked for the 9th.
Went round looking at suites. Didn't rush. Finally ordered one. Delivery 6th - last working day before the plumber arrives.
A bit too close for comfort, that one.
Better sort some tiles and a shower curtain, too.

You're quite mad; I'd kill for a shower like you have.
I hate in-bath showers.

It leaks: gave up trying to fix it.
The new shower will have a similar head (might use the one we have now, actually) and the same pump, so the actual delivery of wetness won't change, and it'll be easier to clean and we'll have more space in the bathroom and we'll be able to use the showerhead to hose Jack down in the bath and L can do her hair hung over the bath edge and all kinds of other stuff.

Why, OOI? We've got one, and it's possibly the best overhead shower I've had. I put in the caveat, cos the best shower was one at the hotel the BBC put me up in near Broadcasting House. That was one of those ones with jets coming from all directions.

I guess I need to start on this sort of thing, since the money for ours may be turning up sometime soon. Yay!

Where did you end up getting your suite from? Mind you, I only want a bath and a loo, since I want an Ikea basin...

We had a look round various places and ended up with one from B&Q - we wanted something PLAIN and you either get them from cheap places or VERY expensive places. So the cheap place it was...
Would've been cheaper if we'd liked the taps that come in the package deal, but as it was we've had to buy all the porcelain/glassfibre parts of the whole suite and then the taps and stuff separately.
If you want to see a decent range, ask a builder/plumber where to look - about the biggest range in Manc is a place called Atlas (iirc), but you wouldn't know about it unless somebody told you.
Oh, MFI have a small range too, I think they only do compleat packages but if they have one you like they're even cheaper than B&Q.

Oh, if you have the dosh and the space, get a longer wider bath - bearing in mind you may need a bigger hot water cylinder to fill it, and that there may not be alternate sizes in the style you like anyway. But a big bath is nice.
1800*800.

Thanks! I have to say I've been looking at the B&Q one. My taste is very plain as well, although I want the smallest loo they do (not the corner one though) because of the size of room. That and a standard sized enamel bath. We have a place called Carver's which probably has the best selection (of everything) in Wolves, but of course they are open weird hours. Might trek up there next week when I'm off. I must ask their lead times as well.

I did that at my old house and loved loved loved it, even though I am far from tall! Unfortunately our new bathroom (even with chimney removed) will be 1500 x 2100. The loo *has* to go on the 1500 end (cannot relocate the downpipe to the other side), so the bath and basin need to fit on the 2100. The basin I want is 600, so its a 1500 bath for us :(

We currently have a bathroom thats about 1500 square, a separate loo which is 1000 x 600 (will turn into a cupboard) and a cupboard with a chimney in the back. The space is too small to preserve the separate loo, IMO. In 6 months I won't be able to close the door when I use it!

Baths are too narrow, and shower curtains are evil - don't work, and they get cold and clammy.

Mind you, most shower cabinets are too small as well.

Fair enough on the shower curtian front. I fitted a folding screen for ours. The only problem I have with ours is that the bath curves too much, so it's hard to stand directly under the shower.

But the thermostatic valve is worth every penny!

We'll live with a curtain for a bit and fit a screen if it gets annoying.
That's the plan, anyway

Considered one of those fits-in-a-corner baths? Or is there no way you could fit that either? Or of course you may just not like them - not keen myself.

Of course, when I win the lottery I shall have a BFO house with en suite walk in wet-room.
