Had to go to a DHL depot today, in Ashton. Closer than Keighley, anyway.
But of course there's an IKEA in Ashton. And we're thinking about kitchens. And they have gluten-free lunches. So we had to go. At midday on a Saturday.
But it wasn't busy!
At one point I said to L "Maybe there's a big football match on"
Shows how much attention I play to soccer, eh what?

Kitchens... Oak's nice innit?

IKEA now have not only gluten-free meatballs, but also gluten-free fish (kids menu, the adult fish isn't GF). Win!

Oak's lovely; it's my wood of choice. Given good crafting it'll last for ever and do that lovely thing where you can see the history of the place in the surface disfiguration.

Oak's nice but, imo, chestnut's even nicer.

Yes, my kitchen is done in chestnut, why do you ask :-).

Score on the gluten-free stuff - can you buy it in the foodstore too?

You can get the meatballs in several supermarkets anyway. L had a quick wander round the foodstore but says she didn't see the fish - it would have to be frozen, I guess, so it seems unlikely. It looked a bit odd (square, with odd lumps in the breadcrumb/batter equivalent) but Jack wolfed it.
We had the meatballs coz I was cooking fish today anyway - used up the last of our GF "breadcrumbs" and Sainsers in Ashton didn't have any!

Charles was very upset today. Only on Wednesday I did a big GF shop in Morrison's and today he fancied a filled roll for lunch, opened his previously unopened pack of GF brown rolls and found that 2 of the 4 were green. The pack had a use by date of 28th. July.

So he opened the unopened packet of white rolls and found the same thing. The use by date was 7th. July.

I tried to ring Customer Services but it's an 0845 number and after I'd been on hold for 5 minutes, I thought "Why should I bother to pay to tell you you may have a big problem with this product?" and rang off. I shall, however, be returning the rolls to the store and getting a refund.

We can make our own GF bread in the bread machine, but since it starts out more as a batter than as normal bread mixture, I'm a bit hesitant about taking it out at the dough stage and making it into rolls.

I loved my Ikea kitchen, but word of warning the cabinets go all the way back to the wall. This good because you get more space, but harder to install and your pipes may need to be re-routed to run *under* the units instead of behind them. If you're having standard units its less of an issue, you can always leave the back boards off and cut the shelves to fit. If you have pull outs though, you have to replumb. Worth it, IMO!

I dunno if we have any pipes to worry about, except directly under the sink. And the gas one directly under the oven. There's a couple of cables though.
Anybody seen any under-wallcabinet lighting that doesn't have exposed cables?

They sell reindeer suasages there, too: a must for that festive Christmas Dinner.
