So, the weather was a bit OTT. But did EVERYBODY have to panic and leave work early, so that the city jammed up and we took 2 hours to get home, missing the appointment at the vet's?
Of course by the time everybody hit the road, it was mostly over. An occasional gust of not very strong wind, an occasional flurry of rain, but no Real Weather. So the whole gridlock thang was completely pointless.
Tsk.

Two hours? Is that all?

I was in Manchester for most of yesterday evening and from what I saw you did pretty bloody well there.

Roley reckons if you headed South, from west of Oxford Rd, it was pretty clear. At least as far as where he lives, which admittedly is only Fallowfield.
I don't understand why it was so bad. The road conditions were fine. No raods were closed on my route, but we absolutely crawled until we got out onto Oldham Broadway.
Then they has "20" signs up on the Mway, but there really wasn't much wind. I suppose there was a risk of gusts

They shut the M60 at the bridge bit near the Trafford Centre (it looked very pretty with the pink and blue flashing lights at each end as I went past on the train) so that caused most of the earlier problems as the queues that caused backed up further and further. Then Kylie exacerbated, but to be fair the biggest hold up we experienced was a whole queue of buses pulling out constantly at a yellow-box junction such that the traffic on the main road never got a turn at all.

I would imagine they'd had a fairly shit day though, so understanable.

I left at the same time and got home quicker. The M6 was clear Northbound as the M42 was closed stopping the queues from building between J4 and Spaghetti.

Southbound was completely stuffed. One of the contractors on the Server Team left at 4 and got home to Leicester at 9PM!
