The chips reckon 15 to 20 mins at 220
The scampi reckons 15 to 20 mins at 220
I give them 25 mins at 200
Underdone.
Tsk.

If you were on gas, I would blame the gas gremlins that cause my food to cook at random intervals ([livejournal.com profile] bopeepsheep can attest to the 4 hour roast chicken, but I've just burned pasta the gas is so high tonight). With electric, I have no idea...

I didn't realise you'd done them at the lower temperature. With fan ovens they say 10 degrees lower for 10 mins longer. So you should have gone for 30 mins at 220. Or, more sensibly, 20 mins at 230 degrees and then check.

Who is `they'? I've never heard that. :-)

I've heard `them' say 10 degrees lower (for the same amount of time) and I've also heard `them' say you don't have to preheat a fan-assisted oven (which equates to doing it at the same temperature but for 5 minutes less). I've also read lots and lots of packets that say `For fan-assisted ovens cooking times should be reduced. Consult the manufacturer's instructions for further information.'

But then I don't know if a `combiwave' oven is the same as a `proper' fan-assisted oven.

"They" are whoever wrote the instructions for my current fan oven and the previous one. It seems to work for seed cake.
