Jim Beam or Jack Daniels?
They're the only 2 CostCo stock, so don't bother suggesting anything else.

I have a cousin whose names are Jack Daniel. Both his parents drink Irish whiskey, not bourbon, but they couldn't think of anything else that went with Jack...

Can't comment as I've never had Jim Beam (rarely drink whiskey and when I do it's Irish as there's been a bottle of Jameson on the top of the fridge for about 3 years!)

For Irish I like Tullamore Dew, not that I've tried many. Jameson's is OK (and perhaps the only Irish one on CostCo). I wasn't keen on Old Paddy.

Jim Beam is a bit sharper and smoother, Jack Daniels a bit sweeter but rougher.. I'd go for Jack, but mostly because he's the Welshman who made the most money in the US..

John prefers Jim Beam if that's any help.

Why not buy both and try them against each other?

Oh... c'mon - Costco do sell *proper* whisky, and at quite good prices.

On the whole, I'm not so certain that Costco is completely cost effective for booze in general. Supermarket offers tend to have the edge in our experience. Honourable exception is made for Badger beers - a very good buy at Costco :-)

*sigh*
I'm going to miss Costco.

(Please send care package of Jelly Bellies, Poppycock, olive oil, dried mushrooms... I'm sure we count as refugees these days)

I did a comparative price check between Costco and Morrison's and CostCo won, for everything they had that we were likely to buy. Just need to watch for any specials at Morrison's. What you need to remember is that at CostCo the bottle are often a litre whereas the supermarkets are almost always 70cl.
We'll be getting some proper whisky as well, that goes without saying, but I want one of the 'merrycan ones as part of the chrimble stock.
CostCo no longer have Marston's Pedigree, coincidentally just at the same time that Morrison's started stocking it in cases of 12 at about the same price.

You'll have to let us know where to send them!

I think the olive oil might not be cost effective to post. And didn't they stop doing dried mushrooms?

That doesn't stop us sending care packs of jelly beans or Poppycock. Oooh, I just fancy some Poppycock...
