Ask the 3 nearest people under the age of 30 who Winnie the Pooh's closest mate is.

I did this morning, and none of them said Piglet.

It may be the End Times.

What did they say? I'd have said Christopher Robin (I'm not under 30 and I was brought up on the original books and I do think the Disney version is an abomination against all that is good and holy), and at first I thought your complaint was going to be that the latest Disney incarnation has changed Christopher Robin into a little girl called Alice.

FFS

Who does he hunt woozles with? When they go to visit Eeyore who does he go with? etc etc

Don't ask me. I much preferred Roald Dahl to A.A. Milne. (When I was too young to 'get' Dahl, substitute Enid Blyton.)

God/Father figure? I didn't realise there was a lit. crit. due on it! I was only 7!

I had a fantastic deconstruction of Noddy once. He was psychotic, which is why other people were skittles, to be knocked over. Big Ears was his shrink. The bell on his hat symbolised his nervous twitch. Etc.

I'd've said Christopher Robin (and I'm over 40).

[livejournal.com profile] smallclanger gave me the "are you stupid, Mother?" look and said "Piglet a-course", so there's hope yet.
