...than a carpark barrier swipe machine that doesn't recognise your card, it's a carpark barrier swipe machine that gives you a green light when you swipe your card BUT STILL DOESN'T LIFT THE BARRIER.

And worse still than that are the ones they have at Head Office here, where they give you a green light, you start to drive over the barrier but it wasn't really swiped so the concrete bollard rises up under your car and flips and/or destroys it.

We moved in here 5 months ago, current count is 17 cars spiked. It is the most inappropriate barrier mechanism for a 500 car carpark I've ever seen I think.

Fortunately I am not entitled to a parking space and pay to park at the hotel nextdoor (which has a keycode raising barrier).

Ours is playing up this week as well, though luckily I am seemingly unaffected (apart from them closing off the cardholders only lane to stop people getting stuck, meaning I have to queue with the plebs)

How about a barrier that is lifted by the press of a button by the building's receptionist? Who then goes off chatting to her mates and can't see you waiting to get out.
