Thanks to the 07:12 not arriving again, I was able to get reasonably far into The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time. As far as the bit about the Monty Hall problem. This is rather well explained in the book so I suppose The Masses now know the correct answer and it's no longer a possible topic for drunken debate. However, for something to do on the stroll across town, I wondered if it could be modified by combining it with one of those Pay X To Play With Payoff Y problems, to make it more subtle. I suspect not, but one has to have something to think about on a half-hour walk, if you don't have a Walkman.

OS8.6: Why would Word suddenly start losing its menus?
June edition of Sophos finds nowt, but I didn't really think it was a virus anyway - you have to do a scan to keep the customers happy.

Just lately, whenever I try to dl a file from a website, the damn thing opens the file but the dl never finishes. Occasionally if I cancel and re-try, it zips through.
No such luck with Itunes though. I'm thinking I've told my firewall to block something I shouldn't have. Any ideas folks?
AND every now and then my machine sends loads of ICMP type 8 packets all over the place. WHY???
