Just ordered my free upgrade to 8M.
Of course, the BT line only supports 2 at best right now, but hey, it's still more than 500k, eh?

I just upgraded my line to 2M. Mainly so I get a higher cap - as there now is one, since PlusNet took over Metronet. I can't say that I've really noticed any interactive increase in speed.

No, I suspect we won't notice much, unless we start streaming stuff from the BBC Broadband service or something.

Is this zen? I was thinking about it, but there's a cap on the 8M service isn't there?

20GB/month
1quid/GB over

And anyway, they've discontinued all the slower stuff except for Home250, so you may as well, unless you expect to go over the cap on a regular basis. Otherwise you're paying 8M prices for slower connectivity.

Ah, so they just charge you extra for going over rather than cut you off? That was my next question. I'll probably change then, although I am thinking of binning Zen and going over to Be, but that sounds too good to be true innit.

Personally, I think that data caps are anti-competitive, restrictive, and another source of money-grubbing. Especially when we were in NZ and I found out that 4 years on from our last visit, the Govt were still denying the need for LLU and every ISP had a cap.

Although I appreciate that not everyone can get cable. Still waiting for my 4Mb update to come through...
