Just enjoying a pint as a small reward for carrying one microwave out of Comet to our car, upstairs from our garage to our kitchen, and the old one down from the kitchen to the garage.
The last two have been Sharps and have both had motor failures - won't turn the platter with any appreciable weight on it. One was replaced under warranty but the replacement just failed in the same way.
So we've got a Panasonic this time. 1000w combi with proper oven shelves.
Anybody who fancies trying to fix the old one by replacing the motor (nice removable panel for that in the base) can have it if they'll collect from our place or a suitable nearby handover point. It was quite nice - combi, though we never used the grill element that I can recall, 850W iirc, maybe 900.

So why pay more for a combi then?

for the OVEN.

DUH!!!

We reckon the small oven in the micro is more efficent than using the big gas jobbie, for most stuff. The new micro has proper shelves, instead of racks that stand on the micro's platter. That should take some load off the motor!

Ah. Not even posessing a microwave I thought that combis were simply crow ovens with a grill element in them to brown the stuff that was waved.

I've got a small second oven in the range for small things.

The micro+grill option exists. We eschew it.

Hmm, we have a Sanyo these days, but our old one was bought second hand when I was student, in 1987. It was probably about 3 or 4 years old at the time. We threw it out when we moved here (actually, FIL refused to move it, declaring it unsafe) in 2003. It was a cheapy no name one, complete with a dial instead of electronic controls.
