Hit baaaaad traffic getting off the A627M onto Kingsway last night. Having no A-Z to look up ratruns - and there are few, as the canal runs down one side, near enough - had to stick with it for a loooooong time, then scooted through the middle of Rochdale with NO TROUBLE!!!
Turns out the road had had to be closed due to a big fight between two gangs. It was still closed this morning! I wondered if it might be white vs Asian, but the Your Comments page of the Rochdale Observer website claims it was a turf war between drug gangs from Oldham and Rochdale.

Of course, traffic on our commute is in any case shortly to be severely affected by the conversion of a simple crossroads into this:
