Saw a bird this morning, obviously out of place (at the side of the motorway)
No idea what it was
Legs, long thin beak, so presumably some kind of wader.
But get this : two plumes on its head!
I'd like to say it had red legs, a white underbody and a dark, maybe black, upperbody. But I could be making any of that up.
The plumes didn't look like the ones in a pic of a great crested grebe, they were less fluffy, but loads of pics of GCBs don't have any visible plumes anyway...
Hmmm if the Northern Lapwing can lift those plumes up, that'd be more like it than most pics of the GCB are.
