doh!

Knocked a wineglass off the table last night.
Luckily, I caught it, so no broken glass to clear up.
But half a glass of rather pleasant Bordeaux went over my trousies.
To make sure I got my units in, I had a shot of the rocketfuel, but for a change, without a mixer.
It was like one of those syrupy dessert wines, but not sweet in the way you'd say "ooo that's a bit sweet". Very more-ish.
Dangerous stuff, if you get a taste for it.

AI comes of age?

Alberta Uni bot takes on top poker pros

So far it's come out ahead in 2 sessions, but they're counting the first as a draw as it was only ahead by a bit. There's some deal-mirroring arrangement so that everybody gets the same distribution of hands.
Mind you, the humans are Phil Laak (ok, I guess) and Ali Eslami (who?). Wouldn't you like to see it play, say, Ivey and Ulliot?

EDIT
The humans won, but not by a huge amount. They reckoned the bot was pretty good, even with its software glitch.
Of course, this was limit hold'em. A bot that can play world class no-limit is (almost certainly) a long way off.
