T'other day, I heard Jack counting:

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, leven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, sixteen, geraldine

So, I suggest that henceforth, a no-points cribbage hand be called a Geraldine.

How long had people been playing crib, do you think, dear readers, before somebody worked out it was impossible to score 17?

EDIT (for latecomers) OK OK, it's 19 that's impossible

It's about 18 months since the Apps group I was part of was dissolved, the staff dispersed to faculty support units.
We all said it was a mistake.
There's a big all-IT-staff-in-the Uni meeting tomorrow.
Just seen the briefing doc.
The proposed new structure includes something called an "Applications support and development group"
Well...
Seems like a tough way to sideline my old boss, if that's all it really was.
Or maybe they just realised they got it wrong.
Or I'm misreading what that box on the diagram is about...
