We've been getting a lot of linedrops on our broadband ever since the "upgrade" to ADSLMax.
As I'm off sick, I thought maybe it was time to call Zen about it - their support is only open 9-5 weekdays, slight drawback to their service.
Only then I thought, well maybe I should try a router/modem firmware upgrade. So I did.
And now, instead of humungous quantities of upstream FEC errors with occasional CRC and HEC errors thrown in for fun, all the errors are downstream. 82 FEC, 13 CRC, 9 HEC in about a half hour or so. Maybe a bit longer. We are getting 6M though, and no drop so far.
So I dunno whether to phone them or not.
What can I do to provoke a drop?
Oh, and I carefully backed up the config, and restored it after the firmware upgrade, but it seems not to have shipped the un&pw back in, and seems reluctant to save them when I type them back in.
And we have static IP but it's gone to "ISP supplies IP" and it seems reluctant to accept changes to these params. Tsk.
