Just had to tell an antivirus scanner to ignore a couple of files, as although it detects a dialler in one of them, and they act as a rootkit, apparently it's some wonderful anti-theft scheme. Unless it's one of the ones that loads from the BIOS, any thief can just format the disk anyway, or dl the data then dump the machine if it was the data they were after, so it's actually pointless - all it does is phone home anytime you go online, telling some database what its IP is. So that if it's nicked, you tell them and they can work out where it went. Great in theory, annoying and deeply flawed in practise.

One of the times I went up to Jack last night - with all the excitement of being 3 he didn't go off easily - he tried to tell me something, but couldn't find the word (it seemed to start with an 'a' sound). After 3 goes he gave up and said "I can't know that word". So I said "Can you tell me about it using different words?".
He thought for a moment, and in a much-older-than-3 voice said "Not really".

We're at the stage where we're moving from exchanges of single sentences towards proper conversations. It's nice to see it happening, but pretty soon he'll be never shutting up, I suppose.
