Apparently, Steve Davis set this poser recently:
What's the smallest number of points that can be scored in a frame of snooker, with all balls potted?
No, don't bother, I'll tell you: 31.
BUT the only way this works is if ONE SHOT gets ALL 15 reds down AND the white goes in too!
Is there a physicist in the house?
Like, you need to give enough energy to the cue ball to pass on enough to each red to get them all to the pockets. And a bit over to get the white into a pocket too. How much energy is that, even if all the positioning were perfect and there were no energy-sapping collisions before the balls dropped? Can the cue ball contain it all, or would it explode in your face? (They used to be made of cellulose, you know, and it actually was possible to make them go BANG)
Steve was asked if anybody had ever potted all 15 reds in 1 shot. He said Benny Hill did it once...
He was also asked why we don't see more of him on tv: he said it's because he's quite thin.
What a wag, eh?
