Went to Chester Zoo today. No problem getting there. It was a bit full when we did though - we were in the overspill car park. It was when we tried to get home - it's about 65 miles and it took 140 minutes. You do the math... Somebody had a bad accident up near Huddersfield early in the afternnon, it closed all but one lane of the 62, and the queue went all the way back to Manc at half 5. The 56 is always busy anyway, but at the Manc end it was dead. Of course when we went under the 62, having switched to the A roads when we got close, it was flowing freely. Tsk.

Jack spent a lot of zoo time saying he didn't like various things, but he enjoyed it really. Don't think he likes Guinness though. He does like his gorilla baloon. Tip - (a) don't buy one until you're about to leave; (b) tie it very securely to something the moment you get it - saw about half a dozen floating away, and about the same stuck in trees.

We left the meerkats to last. And as we were abotu to leave, saw a little girl seemingly slightly distressed. So we asked if she was OK, the people we'd thought she was with having just left without her, and she'd lost her mum. L went off with her in the general direction of (a) more people and (b) the lost kids bit and I stayed put in case mum turned up. Which she did. Tears all round.
