On Claire's recommendation I went through the rigmarole at www.confused.com, as I didn't think 505 was much of a deal for a 51 year old who garages his car every night. And lo, it came up with a lot of much cheaper quotes. But just to see, I phoned my existing broker and asked if they could come up with something a bit more competitive. And after a bit of checking, they came back with a price just about 8 quid more than Kwik-Fit, but with a lower excess. The other really cheap deals from the web had bigger excesses.

Seems it pays to haggle!
