Before Jack was even born, I was messing about on the net and found that Bid-up TV had a website. Some stuff was sold web-only. I made stupidly low bids on a few things, and actually got one of them - one of those wooden train sets. It's completely unpainted, and the wheels are a bit schonky, but apart from that it's a genuine bargain - the plassy wheeled box it comes in would cost half my bid alone in B&Q.
ANYWAY...
It's been waiting over 2 years for Jack to be old enough. We think he is now - except maybe for some of the smaller bits - people, trees, etc. He'll be fine for the actual track and train.
SO...
After Jack was asleep last night, we set the track up downstairs and put the train on it. We reckoned he'd get frustrated with the waiting if we just presented him with the open box and he had to stand about while it was all put together. It did take us a while, so that was a good call.
And so this morning, about half 6 he woke as usual, had a feed, clearly wasn't going back to sleep - as usual. I took him downstairs, and his first thing was to spot the snow out of the window, so we had a look at that for a minute, then we turned from the foot of the stairs into the living room proper, and he saw it.
I'd wondered if we'd get the usual WOT DAT?!?!?! but no, it was an instant TRAIN!!!!!
He loves it. Big hit.
He has some strange antipathy to the bridge section actually having supports, though. Fine until he accidentally knocks one over, then he doesn't want the support put back in.
Mind you, he's watching Charlie & Lola on Cbeebies now (he asked, and hey, it's Christmas), and messing with a wodge of SoftStuff. I've just noticed he's put a blob of it on one of the station seats. K3W1!!!
