How many of us rushed to the KY website to claim a free sample of their new special sensation goop (or whatever it was called), it seems like ages ago now?
Ours finally arrived yesterday - had forgotten all about it.

1. Minor thing, really. Turns out at least 1 member of staff at Europe's Premier Academic Computer Centre (if we still claim that...) has been missing a lot of email because... well they're still trying to find out, really. First we were all talking about the need to re-apply for carpark passes and he hadn't had that mail, sent to the All Uni Staff list, then his manager's manager asked him about a mail to All Staff Here and he hadn't had that. Looks like he's been missing stuff for a very long time... And when he tried to sort it, he was passed down a chain of people all saying it was somebody else's bit of the system... Looks like soemthing to do with once having had mail from a server that no longer exists plus an email alias that may not be known to all the hubs for some reason.

2. SPSS rang to ask why we hadn't paid. My boss moaned to them that their invoice had been illegible (true) but that we had paid. Then he found we'd managed to send the 5 grand to somebody else.

So, I made my choice and went off to stick some money into BetFair (had to reg a new card...), and Ann suddenly wants to give me money to put on as well. On whatever I've picked. God knows why she thinks I'm an authority all of a sudden, OK I made a bit a couple of times but 2 or 3 scores in a decade isn't a great record for picking National winners.
Strong Resolve is the one I like, 14-1 the win and 3-1 the place at Betfair, about 10-1 at Ladbrokes. I like the place-only you can do on the exchanges, but I've bet it to win as well, for a lower stake than the place.
