Jack was playing with a cardboard tube. Toppled over, cried.
I picked him up, and there was BLOOD on his chin.
And lots on his hand.
PANIC!!!
Not his hand.
Not his chin.
Not his lip.
Tongue?
No: eventually we were able to work out it was his gums, where the top front teeth emerge.
He must have gone right onto them when he fell.
But, by the time we got through to NHS Direct and had gone through the screening checklist, the bleeding had stopped, he'd smiled at least once, managed to bite something (his mother's finger) without obvious discomfort, and was feeding.
So, maybe we over-reacted slightly. But, like, it's the First Real Incident.
First BLOOD.
He's fine now, apparently.
Phew!
