Monday - advise people best course of action if they had Hacker Defender is to format and re-install everything; re-assure everybody else that it was a genuine hacker attack, and it's not going to hit them like the usual worms, and we'll spot their open ports if they have/get it.
Tuesday - Finish cleanup on the Dell belonging to the girl who left it with us while she went to India. Not a hard job, as she clearly had had a good o at it herself, more or less properly, but just wanted to be sure.
Wednesday - Meeting of senior peeps in our group with boss's boss to tell him we're snowed under and some stuff just ain't gonna get done.
Thursday - Start cleaning up a laptop... most cleanups involve removal of maybe 4 or 5 viruses and a similar amount of spyware, then sorting the security. This one had about 150 different viruses and trojans and something like 30 types of ad/spy-ware. One (or more) of the baddies was hiding the existence of usernames, lying about the state of System Restore, denying access to various bits of Control Panel... fun. It had been connected to a broadband connection with no patches, no antivirus, and no antispyware, for a considerable period, plus Kazaa etc. A real doozy.
Friday - Teach "Intro to Perl". Supposed to be 10:00 to 16:00. Somehow finished at 14:45..... Still, gave me time to finish cleaning that laptop and write my report for Feb ("Plans for March: As plans for Feb")
